Our Corporate Principle
The founder of our company, Paul Y. Tso, succeeded because he was a visionary leader.
As one of the first to envisage a cross harbour tunnel to link Hong Kong Island to the Kowloon Peninsula, he recognized it was a logical solution to Hong Kong’s traffic problems as the tunnel would be immune from typhoon, shipping, and aviation hazards.
Mr. Tso played a key role in organizing the consortium that submitted the tender in 1966 to build the cross harbour tunnel. In 1967, Mr. Tso flew to San Francisco to see the construction of a submarine tunnel, similar to the one he envisaged to be built in Hong Kong.
After many trips to London and persistent negotiations, the consortium finally won the contract in 1969. The tunnel was completed and opened in 1972. Today it remains a vital infrastructure and one of the busiest traffic tunnels in the world. In 1986, Paul Y. Construction participated in another joint venture that built a second tunnel, the Eastern Harbour Crossing.
In all its projects and joint ventures, the company under Paul Y. Tso has established a reputation for being competitive thru innovation while always operating with integrity.
Building on innovation and integrity remain the core principle of our business today.
